Twinkle Twinkle
As it turned out, the only way to make their parents get off their backs about trying to "find someone" was actually finding someone--with whom to put marriage for show. Mutsuki is strictly gay and has a boyfriend, while Shoko is a clinical case of emotional instability who's in no shape for a relationship. They've each found in the other a perfect partner for a sham marriage. Since the conspirators' parents know of their own child's undesirability, but not the spouse's, the union manages to please them. And while the newlyweds hope, in their own way, to live happily ever after, they inevitably come face to face with the fact that no marriage real or staged, is a fairy tale.

Twinkle Twinkle by Ekuni Kaori is a woman's story, told from a two perspectives, Shoko, a young female translator, and Mutsuki, her husband doctor, alternating from chapter to chapter. This dual person perspective is not really two different and conflicting or contrasting views, but one, from two marginally different angles. The story lacks natural external conflict (among other things,) which made for an unexciting read. To compensate Ekuni creates conflict through Shoko, the main character;
Love alone helped us get through life. Without it, life was simply too haphazard. Mutsuki When browsing for books, I usually look up unfamiliar ones on Goodreads to see what the general ratings are. This particular book had few reviews and plenty of lukewarm ratings. I nearly left the Half Price bookstore without it (it was in the clearance section priced for $1), but the unique cover design and Japanese origin made me reconsider. I cant tell you enough how glad I am that I did! This will
This was just ok, though a very quick read. My partner had picked it up because we were traveling to Japan and were trying to find queer books by Japanese authors.I am unfortunately not a fan of books about Very Flawed People Doing Flawed Things, and this is one such book. An alcoholic woman and a gay dude get married to get their parents off their cases, and they (as well as hubby's boyfriend) have some Feelings about this whole situ. I think it's maybe supposed to be poignant and/or funny but
One of those quiet books where most stuff happens inside characters heads, their feelings and emotions. I enjoy reading about Japanese society and this little story provides a unique look on it from the perspective of societys hidden outcasts, people who dont fit in, but nevertheless try to find their own happiness. Short and enjoyable.
4.5/5starsThis was GREAT and so unique especially in the Japanese lit genre - this covered SO MANY important topics such as homosexuality in Japan, polyamory, alcoholism, platonic love vs romantic/sexual love, panic attacks and so much more! I loved it - our characters were so unique and fleshed out and flawed and wonderful. I will definitely be looking into more by this author!!

it's the answer for the question of why doesn't love have a reason. you just fall for someone, no matter who they are, and even having to struggle with that painful yet beautiful love, in the end, happiness comes, not perfect but softly and kindly ease your heart. the plot appears to be complicated but I found it simple by the way it's told. Although he is homosexual and she is acolholic, they're just a married couple. He has a wife and a lover. She wants to have the child of that two men.
