Author Jack Polo has created an intriguing team of private investigators in Death in Paraiso. Jamal Wade and Matt Singer are comfortable with each other, and the reader soon becomes comfortable with them as they uncover deep pockets of corruption in the beautiful coast town of Paraiso. Is the big crook the mayor? The police chief? A long-missing Mexican contractor? Jack Polos novel is one to read and re-read. His dialogue between characters is natural and not forced. His mystery elements include just enough crime solving and suspense to carry readers along the heros journey. One element many will find surprising is Polos ability to draw an image so clear that readers feel they are part of the story. Yet, he maintains just enough guesswork to make readers question whats next.

I love mystery detective stories, and this one is one of the better ones. The story has a great balance of crime-solving and social interaction between the characters. The dialogue between the characters is terrific, and the fight scenes were well described.I enjoyed the characters of Matt and Wade and wouldn't mind finding out what happens to them next.I would recommend this book to anyone who likes well-told detective mysteries.
