Rendition Concering Books The Scribblings of a Madcap Shambleton
A beautiful and hilarious new book of artwork from the star of The Mighty BooshNoel Fielding's book channels the creative influences of Henri Rousseau, Roy Lichtenstein, and Salvador DalÃ, through the comedian's strange, singular, and surreal mind. Hilarious and beautifully produced, this is a visual feast which will delight and entertain Noel's many impassioned fans.
"Growing up in the jungles of India there was no need for drawing or painting. I would sometimes arrange ants into primitive still lives or scratch out portraits onto the trunks of trees. Things changed when I was 11, a lame tiger who owned a stationery shop gave me the keys to his stock room, I would roll around in acrylic and oil pastels in reverie, licking canvases and tucking coloured pencils into my wild hair. It was here I learned how to draw and paint well enough to be accepted into Croyden Art College. There, Dexter Dalwood (Turner Prize nominee) taught me and after two years under his supreme tutelage and much hard graft he advised me to become a comedian." —Noel Fielding

This book is just so effortlessly perfect, simply because each page is something directly from Noel's mind. Each photo and picture and short story is different but you can relate them all to Noel.Noel Fielding is perfection personified, so it makes sense that his art reflects that. I love this book and I love the man that wrote it. He has the guts to be different, something that many people lack.He is his own person, and I love him for it.5/5 tigers with chlamydiaA book of Noel's art and some tiny stories. The hand writing in this book is small and awkward and colourful and can be annoying at times. You'll probably only be a huge fan of this if you like Noel/Mighty Boosh i do think Noel is really talented and funny guy but this book does fall short and its not as good as say Vic Reeves' art books that are really amazing. So only get this if you're a huge fan otherwise there isn't really anything new in this book that you haven't already seen before as
There's a time and a place for Noel Fielding. For me it was my late teens and early twenties, branching out into the world. It was also, incidentally, a time during which a lot of my... "issues" let's call them, started to come out in full force. I realise it sounds like I'm saying you have to be mentally ill to like Noel Fielding; you don't. But my mind and my life were very chaotic back then and I think the chaos that is his persona and performance appealed to me then because it was shared,
I love Noel Fielding. He reminds me to calm the f down and laugh more. His art makes me want to make art. His writing pushes me to eat more heartily of the absurd. His existence makes me smile. I have no idea if I'd like the guy if I met him, but I still understand that I like the world more with him in it. He inspires me. So there.
warning: this is not a real review because I'm incapable of such eloquenceThis book is just absolutely beautiful. It's quirky and funny and creative and inspiring and I absolutely adored every part of it. I want to curl up inside Noel Fielding's brain with a cup of tea and a blanket and just observe its workings for a while. Also, Noel Fielding aside for a moment, Dave Brown's photography and design is gorgeous.
This book is like falling down the rabbit hole of Noel's mind and attempting to wander around without a tour guide, or at the very least a Cheshire Cat. The artwork is crazy and imaginative. The stories are outrageous and fantastical. This book is far different than I thought it would be, and that is entirely okay by me! I can't wait until Noel writes a full on memoir.
I love Noel Fielding, that androgynous bird of prey! He is, as the title of his book suggests, a Madcap Genius. I think the reason why I love Noel Fielding is that he is so very silly. He takes his stories or his characters to places that you would never think that they could go to. This is definitely the vibe that you get when you look at his book of art The Scribblings of a Madcap Genius. It is crazy, silly and to some extent very serious. You can see that Fielding takes his talent seriously
