Description In Favor Of Books Marianela
List Books To Marianela

2.5not a reviewDoes this count as YA? Or is this a To Kill a Mockingbird case that it is a YA but since it's such a classic we can not "diminish it" by saying is YA? Or are we just accepting YA if it was written in the last 30-35 years? Or classics meant for children? I want to read more diverse books, I challenge myself to read 50 books in 2015, and that at least half of that are diverse, Does this count as a diverse book? Of course the psychology and philosophy behind the characters is very deep but still, the style is very swift. It's easy to love Marianela, being the ugly duckling of the story. It really brings above sentimental emotions and can therefore according to the translator be put in the category of post-romanticism. I absolutely agree on that part. Marianela is dehumanized in so many different ways that it

I read this book in High School and I felt in love with it. The story of Marianela is sweet and touching. This romance novels has everything from tragic, love, and a lot of sadness. I would never get tired of rereading this book. Very good book and I highly recommend it.
I read this book in high school en espanol when I was 16 and was so excited to find it on goodreads. A perfect first Spanish read for this impressionable & romantic girl. Very sad but thought provoking as well. Made me think about true beauty and where it lies.
This review is bilingual. First, you will find the English version and after that one, you will find the Spanish version.I had to read this novel as part of the Spanish program when I was in high school. This book was written by Benito Pérez Galdós, that he was a famous writer from Spain.Marianela is a tragic but lovely story about a poor orphan girl whose name was Marianela but almost all people called her "La Nela" (an usual form to call women with that particular name for short). Marianela
It's about a spanish orphan living in Socartes, Spain. She has literally nothing, not even beauty. She is ugly, small, thin, underdeveloped. She takes careof a blind boy and are best friends and in love. However, when a miracle doctor comes to town with the hopes of curing the boy's blindness, the girl is devastated and becomes troubled with the fear of losing the only person that loves her. Lovely book. Romantic, realistic, surprising. In love with it, totally recommend it.
