Upgraded to 5 stars. I just love this story! Id love if there was a sequel someday.😊The narrator was OK, not great. This is a contemporary story from an author whose Victorian era books I have read and thoroughly enjoyed. It's full of likeable characters, a mini-mystery, and a overall satisfying story. The closest comparison I think is to Traci Dupree's Lake Emily series with some similarities to Jan Karon's Mitford series.I love this simple little story. In a small town setting love can bloom. There is no trashy in this novel.
Sooooo good!!!As I've said before I didn't want to stop reading. This story has everything, child abuse, human strength, success, faith and mystery. All of this rolled into one. SMG

I have to say that parts of this book were very interesting. Spoiler alert. I don't usually give away parts of the plot but I have to say I like the fact that the main romantic leading man was a creep and a murderer. Interesting that the author decided to go that direction but I enjoyed it. The negative part of the story was that she gave this plot twist away half way through the story. It would have been an amazing plot twist if it came at the end when he's trying to kill the leading lady. But
This book kept my interestI have enjoyed all of this author's work however this story was different. The story played with dark &light. At times the subject matter was so heavy,I had to put it down but that was only for a little while because I had to find out what happened next! This book engaged me from start to finish.
I normally don't like this genre, but I loved this book. It was my favorite of the books written by the author.
