Judge Of Books While Other People Sleep (Sharon McCone #18)
Continuing on my quest to read all of the books again. Another one finished.

While Other People Sleep, by Marcia Muller, A-minus, Narrated by Jean Reed Bahle, produced by Brilliance Audio, downloaded from audible.com. Ive found the Sharon McCone books to be hit or miss, in the same way that Nevada Barrs Anna Pigeon series can be hit or miss. But this is one of the best and most chilling mysteries Muller has produced for a while. Sharon McCone is told by a friend that someone is pretending to be her, and is handing out business cards with her name, is offering to

I am not sure that I actually enjoyed the 'story'- some parts were interesting, however, it seemed to 'drag' a little bit. When a book really grabs me, it doesn't take me long to finish reading it and this one I could easily put down and return to a few days later. The one thing I did find interesting was the way the sections were set, not as chapters, but as days of the week. It begins with 'Wednesday night, and then moves to Thursday and so on. There were a lot of things happening in the story

This continues to be an excellent series, and I found this one to be the best yet!! Her side characters are rich, and as per usual, the story quickly picks up the pace as it rolls along, one event sequencing smoothly into the next. At first, I found the plot unrealistic, as Sharon is a top-notch investigator, and what would be the problem in solving this one in a timely manner, and how could an identity thief/stalker get the best of her? But, Marcia Muller clearly unfolds the scenario, showing

I started reading this series (1st book titled: Edwin of the Iron Shoes) about a year before I moved to the Bay Area, where the action of the books is mostly set. Sharon McCone, private eye, starts out as an irritable, hard-boiled lone wolf, but over the course of the series (20+ volumes and counting) she becomes more and more connected to the lives of those around her.Ten years ago, I saw this change not as growth, but as a loss of independence on McCone's part, and I quit reading in high

In this book, Sharon McCone is the victim of Identity Theft. She is embarassed when she realizes the personal information she keeps in her home. She is, after all, a PI whose business is helping others remain safe. She chooses not to tell her employees of her problems. She becomes aware of the situation when a well known man accuses her of not being who she actually is. The situation deteriorates after that. Her home is broken into, she receives merchandise she has not ordered, family members

This was unnerving, chilling, and creepy in a way that I enjoyed. Someone has been pretending to be Sharon around town, who looks somewhat like Sharon from a distance. Sharon is first told by a friend who encountered the other woman at a cocktail party with a name tag identifying her as Sharon, pretending to be Sharon in conversation. Later, an art dealer contacts Sharon and is confused when Sharon is not the woman he met before - and slept with.As well, something is going on with Ted.Very
