Explanation Supposing Books Gun Metal Heart (Daria Gibron #2)
In Gun Metal Heart by Dana Haynes, Daria Gibron, a freelance operative with a long and deadly history, has been slowly recovering from the injuries sustained from her last case. Hiding out in a town in rural Italy, she has been staying as far off the map as she can—until she's tracked down by an old colleague. Diego had been a bodyguard in Florence, protecting an engineer and her invention, when they were attacked by a highly trained paramilitary group. Diego alone escaped and the White Scorpions, a Serbian mercenary group known for their indiscriminate violence, are now after him. Well, after him and Daria, now that he's dragged her into the picture. At the same time, a small group of disgraced CIA agents have been waiting for their chance to exact revenge on the person they blame for their discharge—Daria Gibron. When they learn she's in contact with Diego, they get the okay from their former bosses to take her out. With several highly trained teams out to get her, a partner withholding critical information, and a missing invention around which everything turns, Daria is in the worst danger of her life. And she couldn't be having more fun.

PROTAGONIST: Daria Gibron, freelance operativeSETTING: BelgradeSERIES: #2 of 2RATING: 3.5WHY: After recovering from a case of superflu, freelance operative Daria Gibron is definitely not up to 100 percent. She consents to help an old friend, Diego, who is a bodyguard, and becomes involved in an international scheme pitting her against another formidable woman, Vioria. Gibron is the target of some new drones that are using voice and facial recognition to seek her out. The book has high stakesFormer Shin Bet operative Daria Gibron is back in action in Dana Hayes (Crashers) second book in this high octane series. A simple security assignment in Milan goes bad and she finds herself relentlessly pursued though European locals by deadly mini drones operated by an evil American defense contractor, their crooked US Army procurement officers, a mysterious and lethal female special ops player and a team of rogue CIA agents bent on revenge. The non stop action was a little too drawn out for
3.5 stars. Was given this book to read, only to discover its the second in a series. Quick, fun read. If ever turned into a movie, itd be jam-packed with action and filled with pretty caricatures doing badass moves with a smattering of accents scattered between them. lolProbably wouldnt have picked it out for myself, but thats the fun of receiving random books!
Fantastic!!! Grabbed it on a whim... Finished it in 2 days! Could not believe I missed this... Definitely added to my favorites... Now to track down the rest of Daria's adventures!!!
Kept me up entirely too late. One might call this a cross between Laura Croft & Jason Bourne. I just love books with nonstop action, and entertaining characters. Thank you Dana for a good read.

Definitely not Dana Haynes' best book thus far, though he's still a "young" author. Daria is an intriguing character - we certainly dove into her a lot more in the last book. While the adventure in this book was great, I felt the entire thing fell flat as a whole. The strong female vs female villain/hero battle was refreshing.
