I've known AJ due to her popularity during her time in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). I enjoyed her performances and I related to her character and her personality since she made sure it was a reflection of herself: a total nerd. Reading her story, I related to her on another level. First, being that we have a Puerto Rican background, also our love for wrestling more specifically her passion for women's wrestling. I enjoyed reading the story of a young woman finding a future for herselfWhew what a book!I listened to the audiobook, which is narrated by A.J. herself, and it was wonderful. I think having the author narrate a book like this is really important because it allows for certain emotions to be portrayed exactly as she intended. Her narration really just brought this certain quality to the book that made it feel like a friend telling me about her life! I thought that was awesome! A big part of this book is focused on her mental health issues and how they effected her
A very good book. I actually bought this book, as it appeared on my recommendations list, the title instantly caught my attention. Then on closer inspection I realized the author was the wife on one of my favorite wrestlers CM Punk, even though I stopped watching wrestling a few years ago, and have never seen one of Aj's matches, (I will remedy that with youtube), why not give it a go. I am really surprised how much I actually did like the book, and I think definitely has important messages
The closest I come to being a wrestling fan is watching Cyndi Lauper's old music videos. Ppl of a certain and totally cool age will absolutely know what I am talking about. However, I really enjoyed Crazy is My Superpower. It is an honest, sad, funny, heartwarming and completely inspirational book. Girls (and Guys) who want to have fun will enjoy this great read.
It's hard to even begin to express all the emotions AJ's book made me feel. To be honest, I don't know anything about wrestling, and I definitely didn't know anything about AJ before reading her book. But over the course of the book I fell for this badass lady and I fell for her HARD. AJ knows she's small in stature, but she hates being called "fragile" because she's emotionally, physically, and mentally tough as hell. From that moment onward, I was totally on board. She's funny and genuine,
Aj Lee's story is to me empowering. There was no "I had a shitty life feel sorry for me" in this book. No. It was more I want this so I'm going to bust my ass to get this. Sure she got knocked down a few times but she got back up and did what she had to, to reach her goals. This women has a ton of strength and I admire her even more now. This is not all about her days in the wwe. It's about her family, growing up poor, her own fight with mental illness. I loved her in the wwe. I respect the hell
AJ's memoir was a pleasure to read. Her resilience and strength shown throughout her challenging life are inspirational and nothing short of extraordinary. This book refreshed my own resilience and proved that you can overcome anything if you have the drive to do so. Her openness about mental illness is commendable and I loved her advice to young girls. On top of everything, her writing style is very enjoyable to read; it's no surprise that she won so many writing competitions as a child.
